As the community was outgrowing St. Henry’s Church, in 1885  four town lots were purchased, and St. Mary’s church was built.  On December 18, 1865, it was opened and blessed by Bishop Walsh.
1885 saw St. Mary’s first baptism and 1897 the first wedding.
In 1894 St. Helen’s and St. Mary’s together, formed an independent parish, and the parish rectory was built.
The sod was turned for the new St. Mary’s church in 1972  by Fr. Smith  
 

The corner stone ceremony for St. Helen’s Church took place September 1902.  The first Baptism took place in 1903, and the first Marriage in 1904.  The bell for the steeple was purchased in 1921, and removed for safety reasons in 2000.
