The Mission

The Catholic Women’s League of Canada is a national organization rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through service to the people of God.

League History

The Catholic Women’s League of Canada was organized nationally on June 17, 1920 and granted federal incorporation on December 12, 1923. 

The League is officially recognized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) as a lay association of women and is affiliated with the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations (WUCWO), a world-wide federation holding membership in the conference of International Catholic Organizations (ICO) and having consultative status with agencies of the United Nations.

League Objects

The objects of the League shall be to unite Catholic women of Canada:

  1. to achieve individual and collective spiritual development
  2. to promote the teachings of the Catholic church
  3. to exemplify the Christian ideal in home and family life
  4. to protect the sanctity of life

Each parish in the Communion of Parishes has a branch of the Catholic Women’s League at the parish.

Council of Women:

The St. Anne’s Council of Women is the executive of the St. Anne’s Catholic Women’s League.  It has a maximum of 35 members.  They are CWL members in good standing who are faithful to the Sunday Eucharist and committed to the Parish and serving on the Council of Women.  Each member is expected to attend all meetings from September to May (8 meetings), will sit on a committee or covene a function, participate in both major fundraisers (Bazaar and Wine and Cheese Show), and attend events hosted by the Council (breakfast, pot luck, morning of reflection, living rosary).  League members can self nominate or nominate a sister of the league.  They may contact the president directly.
